Montgomery County’s Development Services staff actively works with the business community to better understand their needs and connect them to the right resources to grow their business.
BusinessFirst! – BusinessFirst! for a Greater Dayton Region connects companies to more than 100 resources partners who can help them grow, and provides valuable assistance with local, county, state and federal agencies. This customer-oriented program has worked with 7,000+ regional businesses to encourage new investment, job creation and job retention.
ED/GE Program – Working through local jurisdictions, the ED/GE program facilitates the growth and expansion of businesses throughout Montgomery County. Each year, ED/GE funds leverage an average of $112 million in new investment and create or retain about 2,000 jobs. With projects ranging from small technology companies to major manufacturers, this program has had a significant impact on the Dayton Region.
CDBG Planning Community Funds – Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds facilitate economic growth and develop viable urban communities through housing improvements, capital funds to help businesses grow, and job training. Designed to grow small, for-profit companies, the MicroEnterprise Grant Program targets businesses with 5 or fewer employees and annual revenues under $500,000. Focusing on businesses owned by women, veterans and minorities, or socially and economically disadvantaged businesses, recipients have used the funds to equipment, improve facilities and free up working capital.
Building Regulations – Committed to keeping the community safe, Building Regulations ensures that the buildings we use meet state requirements for health, safety, and welfare. We help to navigate regulatory requirements for building and electrical codes, handicapped accessibility, energy conservation standards, flood damage prevention and special airport zoning requirements. Preliminary design evaluation meetings are available to help projects proceed smoothly.
Dayton Region Israel Trade Alliance – The Dayton Region Israel Trade Alliance (DRITA) identifies and promotes business development opportunities between Israeli companies and Dayton Region companies. With more than 25 Non-Disclosure Agreements in place, DRITA is an essential tool to encourage Foreign Direct Investment in such diverse sectors as Medical Device Manufacturing, Medical IT, Aerospace, Water, Defense and Sensor Technology.
Planning Commission – To grow development opportunities in townships across Montgomery County, the Planning Commission staff works closely with communities to ensure that Plats, Subdivisions and Lot Splits are accurate and timely. The Planning Commission also facilitates zoning changes and long-range Land Use Planning to stay responsive to community needs.
Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District – Specializing in high priority transportation improvement projects, the Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District (MCTID) finances and expedites infrastructure projects. Services range from planning and technical assistance to turn-key financing and implementation, all based on customer need.
Dayton/Montgomery County Port Authority – The Port Authority is a key partner to finance new construction, acquire land or buildings, make facility improvements, or purchase equipment. The Port Authority offers attractive rates and terms for large corporate transactions and for small businesses seeking fixed asset financing of $1 million or more.
