Healthcare is one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing industries in the country. That’s because at some point, it will touch every person in the United States. Not only has the number of workers employed in health care increased, but the percentage of the nation’s private-sector workforce employed in health care has increased as well. According to the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association, 29 hospitals are spread across the Dayton region, contributing to $8.1 billion impact on our area’s economy. Our hospitals have a significant and quantifiable impact on the local economy by directly employing 34,274 individuals. A future in the healthcare industry looks healthy. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment growth is expected to be driven by technological advances in patient care, which permit a greater number of health problems to be treated, and by an increasing emphasis on preventive care.
